who what when how why novellas part 1

First start.

Ok so...
The shortest story I've ever completed was 'A Journey' (yes, I know, totally generic, forgive me I was 14) for my GCSE coursework pieces. I got an A, :) . It was about a 1000 words long and about a girl in 1937 Kiev on her way to New York by ship. I barely researched and revised my beginning about a billion times. It was complete torture. Its the only story I've ever finished. I'm planning on demolishing that rather enviable record. hopefully by the end of July. it should go well, i'm on summer holiday and the freaking depressing atmosphere of the city where i'll be should be conducive to my writing habits. I've been looking at some other blogs for tips, and its pretty fantastic, e.g Delilah S. Dawson's 10 steps helped me focus on what my strategy going into this will be.

Fewer subplots: shouldn't be a problem
A few characters: already have them listed
Plot: its coming along, given I got inspired just yesterday.
Setting: I'll definitely enjoy writing this, i'm pretty familiar with the world and its rules, I like to think of it as a side story set in the same world as my main novel.

I've already begun reading a few novellas from a variety of authors in order to get a feel for pacing, subtext, descriptions and other important elements to writing. Though most of these are romance novellas, I'm hoping to add more science fiction or fantasy ones as those my main realms.

(Written while listening to: DLZ by TV on the Radio, thanks Breaking Bad)
